Liberal Studies and Education
A Liberal Studies degree will provide students who wish to become teachers with the necessary education to accomplish their goal, as well as to allow students who want a well-rounded education the course of study they need for their degree. This degree will also work well for students who are unsure of their future career plans as it allows a broad range of options for future studies and vocations.
Students pursuing a Liberal Studies degree can choose to participate in the undergraduate Education Program, which combines a Liberal Studies major with an Education minor. Students who choose to take this path will take coursework that applies to their bachelor’s degree and their teaching credential simultaneously. Students who complete all 17 credits of credentialing coursework as part of their bachelor's degree have only one semester of student teaching following graduation in order to complete the credential (note: some state tests are required).Teachers impact the lives of children in an unending way. Simpson University's undergraduate Education Program, which includes the Liberal Studies major and Education minor, is designed to prepare young men and women for meaningful careers in the classroom.
