Two of Simpson University's newest and most unique programs fall under the umbrella of the Leadership Studies Department.

Simpson is one of the few Christian colleges and universities that offer an Outdoor Leadership major and minor. The university's location at the hub of Northern California's vast recreational playground makes it ideal for such a program. Offering an exciting array of courses and field experience, the Outdoor Leadership major was launched in 2007 and is poised for tremendous growth.

In 2008, Simpson University became the only California college or university north of Sacramento to offer an ROTC program. Called the Military Leadership Minor, this Reserve Officers' Training Corps chapter offers students the opportunity to become Army officers. Courses are also available to students in other programs who wish to take advantage of the skills and training offered in this exceptional leadership training program.

The Leadership Studies Department reflects Simpson University's desire to educate and equip students for a lifetime of leadership and service.
