FAQ
Q: When do I qualify as a transfer student?
A: If you have a high school diploma and 12 or more semester credits from a community college, college, or university.
Q: What do I need to do to apply to Simpson?
A: Submit an application, a spiritual reference (someone in the church who serves in a position such as a pastor, youth pastor, or a Bible study leader who is in relationship with you but not related to you), final official high school transcript with SAT/ACT score and college transcript(s).
Q: How do I know if the classes I have taken are transferable?
A: Classes are transferable if the school that you attend or attended is accredited. Courses with a letter grade of "C" or higher can be transferred from a community college, college, or university. Also, a course will be considered transferable if it is degree-applicable and not a remedial course (i.e., prerequisite for Math 1A).
Q: Do I need an associate degree to transfer into Simpson University?
A: No you do not.
Q: What classes do I need to take to transfer into Simpson University?
A: We are not able to give an articulation sheet for all colleges. However, if you list five or six courses from your transferring school with the course number and title (i.e., ENGL 1220, Principles of College Writing II), and the name of the school (i.e., Shasta College), the transfer counselor will be happy to review it for equivalency courses at Simpson University. We will do this for up to 15 semester credits.
Q: What is a transfer equivalency report?
A: The transfer equivalency report shows equivalency of one college's courses to Simpson University courses. For example, Shasta College-ENG 1A is equivalent to ENGL-1210 at Simpson. The Admissions Office and the Registrar's Office can help you determine which classes at your local college or university would be equivalent to Simpson's courses.
Q: Do transfer students have to take Bible classes?
A: Yes, depending on the number of credits with which they entered. Transfer students with less than 30 units must complete the entire foundational studies Bible requirements for the desired major. Students with between 30 and 62 credits will take all Bible classes listed in the 2006-2008 catalog except for the upper-division Bible elective. Students with between 62 and 96 credits will take five pre-selected Bible courses; and students with more than 96 credits will take three pre-selected Bible courses.
Q: Do I need to submit my SAT/ACT scores to be reviewed for acceptance?
A: If you have fewer than 24 semester credits, you will need your SAT/ACT score to be reviewed for acceptance. If you have more than 24 semester credits, we will waive review of your SAT/ACT score.
