Irwin-Shellrude
Name: Jessica Christian
Hometown: Redding has been my hometown since 2000, but I lived in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada prior to moving to Redding.
Education/Experience: I graduated from Trinity Western University in 1998 with a BA in Intercultural Religious Students and a Certification in Teaching ESL. Following my graduation, I moved to Ukraine where I served as a missionary, teaching English and leading Bible study groups for my students who had made decisions for Christ and/or were seeking. In 2000 I was given the opportunity to move to Redding to become a Resident Director in the best Residence Hall on campus (go Irwin-Shellrude!). I have absolutely LOVED living here among the freshmen women as they have adjusted to one of the most exciting and life-changing chapters of their lives. College life was tremendously impactful for me (and some of the most amazing years of my life) and I am blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of that journey with the female freshmen of Simpson University.
Interests: Meeting new people, seeing students find greater freedom as they discover their identities in Christ, experiencing & learning about different cultures, traveling, reading, swimming, good music, the ambiance of a great coffee shop, jewelry making, and spending time with the people I love.
Favorite Book: Victory Over The Darkness by Neil Anderson.
Verse: I Corinthians 15:58, "Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain."
Interesting Fact: I am married to a wonderful man named Ashish who is from Gujarat, India. We met in Kenya, were engaged in India, and were married in Redding on March 20, 2004. We are expecting our first child in October of 2007!
