Name: Matt Kluttz, Resident Director
Hometown: Discovery Bay, CA
Education/Experience: Matt graduated from Simpson with a B.A. in Psychology. After graduation he moved to Washington state to join the Stuart Consulting Group Inc., where he worked as a trainer/consultant with professionals in transition and in leadership development. In 1998 Matt moved back to California and began work as a psychometrist, testing patients for cognitive disabilities and brain damage. He has been involved in college ministry since 2000, serving as a young adult bible study leader and in other church college group ministries.
Interests:Matt loves a variety of outdoor activities from snowshoeing to four-wheeling. He was a competitive swimmer in high school and enjoys anything related to water. Matt also enjoys cooking, music, RC cars and planes, gaming, and hanging out with his wife, Kendell.
Favorite Book: The Saving Life of Christ by Major Ian Thomas
Favorite Scripture Verse:Romans 12: 1-2
Interesting Fact:Matt and his wife Kendell are part owners of a lavender farm, located in the Big Springs valley on the north side of Mt. Shasta in California. There, they grow three types of lavender for oil distillation and floral and culinary uses.
What do you love about Simpson? I love the community of students, staff, and faculty. Simpson University is a place where people develop into the persons God has called them to be; that includes myself. Words that come to mind when I think of Simpson University are hospitality, spiritual community, and growth.
