Admissions FAQ

Q:   How can I apply to Simpson?
A:   You may apply by paper ($40) or online for only $20.

Q:   Is there an essay required?
A:    Simpson's application does not require a formal essay, but we do ask, "Who is Jesus Christ, and what is your relationship with Him?" Your answer may be as extensive as you would like. This is our chance to get to know you.

Q:   Who can fill out my spiritual reference form?
A:   Anyone in leadership at your church may fill out your reference form. A pastor, church youth leader, Bible study leader, and prayer group leader are all acceptable references. The reference may not be a peer or relative. Contact your admissions counselor if you have more questions.

Q:   Do all of my admissions materials have to be sent in at one time?
A:    No. You may submit your online application, and then work on sending in your reference, transcripts, and test scores. Your admissions counselor will keep you updated as these materials come through.

Q:   Am I committed to attend Simpson if I submit my admissions materials?
A:   No. You may turn in all of their application materials to see if you will be accepted. You are not committed to Simpson just by applying and being accepted. This will simply open up the option for you.

Q:   What GPA on my high school transcript does Simpson look at?
A:   We will review your total "weighted" GPA for whatever classes you have completed at the time of applying to Simpson.

Q:   How long will it take for my application to be reviewed once all of my materials are in?
A:   You should hear back whether you are accepted or not within one to four weeks. You will receive a letter, as well as a personal call from your admissions counselor.

Q:   Does Simpson take SATs or ACTs?
A:   We will review either your SAT I "reasoning test" or ACT. Feel free to send us a new report each time you take your test, as we will use your highest scores. You may be eligible for a Simpson scholarship if you have an SAT of at least 1000 (with math and critical reading only) or an ACT of 21.
