Format

Four new degree prgrams offered in a unique hybrid of learning formats. Finally, seminary education designed by ministry leaders for ministry leaders, and delivered to you.

Tozer Seminary offers three different learning formats, making seminary education easily accessible to you. The local cohort group allows you to study right in your area with local pastors and ministry leaders. The distance learning format allows you to access classes on the internet from your home. One- and two-week intensive courses held at Simpson give you a chance to study with leading scholars and ministry experts, while not taking too much time away from a busy schedule.

All of this comes together in an accessible, convenient and rewarding experience.

Distance Learning Courses

Distance learning courses are semester-long courses available online. Students log onto the course's website during the first week of the semester. Each course contains audio and/or video presentations from the instructor, reading, writing, threaded discussions, quizzes, and other learning activities. Most courses are divided into two- or three-week segments that spread the work out more evenly across the semester. About 30 percent of the courses in the M.Div and M.A degrees are available through distance learning. A broadband Internet connection and a PC with a Pentium 4 processor or Mac with OS 10 is recommended.

One- and Two-Week Intensive Courses

Approximately 30 percent of the degree programs are offered in one- and two-week intensive courses, held at the Simpson University Campus in Redding. Intensives offer a unique opportunity to spend quality time with leading scholars and ministry experts from across the country and around the world in a relaxing and refreshing setting. Enjoy Simpson University's beautful campus while studying under the caring and brilliant minds of the A.W. Tozer Theological Seminary. Low-cost accommodations are available on campus. See here for prices. Contact Simpson University for more information.

Area Cohorts

A cohort group consists of 12 to 25 students enrolled in any of the Tozer degree programs in a given local area. A sequence of 8 courses is offered, in fall and spring Semesters, over four years. Qualified local pastors and ministry experts will be hired to teach the courses. New students may join cohort groups at the beginning of each semester. Students who need to take a break may rejoin their group at the start of the following semester. Over the next several years, Simpson plans to launch cohort group courses in major metropolitan areas throughout the Western United States.
