Student Employment

It is always the student's responsibility to secure his/her own employment on campus. Student applications are online or you make pick up a copy in the Human Resources Office (Owen Center 3rd Floor). The Human Resources Department will do its best in aiding students in locating a job and will attempt to route the student's application to hiring departments for which they are qualified. The Human Resources Office recommends that students approach hiring supervisors for possible jobs. Below is a list of student employee supervisors to check with for possible employment.

Application Process

  1. Complete Online Application

America Reads

Simpson University also participates in the America Reads tutoring program. Students in this program are trained and sent out (must have own transportation) to various elementary schools in the Redding area to work with children on reading exercises.

Academic Success Center

The Academic Success Center offers tutoring services to Simpson University students.  Each year, this department hires individuals who are willing to tutor students in various subjects. Students must have a minimum or 3.0 G.P.A. and at least one semester of college.

After Securing Employment

After securing employment each student must obtain an employment agreement, W-4 form, and I-9 form from the Human Resources Office. The agreement must be returned with signatures from the student and supervisor. The W-4 and I-9 forms must be returned with completed information and the appropriate identification (driver's license and social security card or passport, or see list of acceptable ID on I-9 form), before starting work. The Human Resources Office is always available for questions in OC 308 or at extension 2511.
