Orisons Theatre Company Presents Women & Wallace

For Immediate Release
March 25, 2007

REDDING, Calif. - Orisons Theatre Company at Simpson University brings a dark comedy to the stage as they present a theatre production of Women and Wallace.

Women and Wallace, directed by Carolyn Murray of the Orisons Theatre Company, will be presented on April 3-5 and 10-12 at 7 p.m. in the Simpson University Orisons Theatre. Tickets can be purchased at the Simpson bookstore at 226-4161 or at the door for $8.

Written by Jonathan Marc Sherman in 1990, Women and Wallace exposes the effects that a mother's suicide has on her son and the battle he struggles to form relationships with women as he progresses towards manhood.

SimpsonUniversity's Theatre Department recently performed The Miracle Worker and The Importance of Being Earnest. Murray said the hour-long, one act play, is not the typical crowd pleaser that Simpson is used to performing.

"This is the most controversial play I've ever brought to Simpson University," said Murray. "Women and Wallace is a true depiction of suffering that will make you laugh and cry, yet leave you with a sense of hope."

The cast includes Michael Gallegos as Wallace, Melody Maddox as his mother, and Carolyn Murray as the grandmother. This is the first time Murray has acted in and directed a play at Simpson.
