Simpson to Host The Myriad at the Cascade

For Immediate Release
February 6, 2007

REDDING, Calif. - The Myriad, an alternative-rock band that includes three Simpson University alumni, will be performing at the Cascade Theatre on March 15 as part of the university's preview weekend for high school students. This will be the first time the band will perform in Redding after winning MTV's "Dew Circuit Breakout" competition in December.

Tickets for the concert are on sale for $10 at Simpson University's Bookstore, located on the first floor of the Owen Center, between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. at (530) 226-4161, online at www.simpsonuniversity.edu/myriad, or at any Dutch Bros. location (with cash or check) in Redding.

Redding resident Jeremy Edwardson cofounded The Myriad in 2001. The band's lead vocalist earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from Simpson University in 2001. Guitarist Jonathan Young is a 1999 alumnus with a youth ministries major, and bassist John Roger Schofield graduated in 2001 with an English degree.

Other band members include Redding resident, Randy Miller on drums, and Steven Tracy on keyboards.

Since performing at Simpson University last year, and after winning MTV's nationwide competition out of 4,000 other bands, The Myriad continues to increase in popularity. The band begins a national tour on April 1 in support of their upcoming full-length KOCH Records debut, "With Arrows, With Poise," which releases worldwide May 13, 2008.

As a result of winning the Circuit Breakout contest, The Myriad will star in its first MTV music video for rotation on-air. They have endorsements from Fender and Gretsch guitars and are evaluating other offers.

Edwardson said, "Last year was a year full of blessings. We signed with KOCH Records, who helped us finish up our upcoming album, we were invited on a sold-out nationwide tour in the fall with The David Crowder Band and Phil Wickham and then the year ended with us being voted to the number 1 spot in MTV2's Dew Circuit Breakout contest."

Edwardson said he is excited to perform in Redding where he feels tremendous local support.

"It's going to be a blast coming back to my hometown and playing at the Cascade Theatre," Edwardson said. "This is a venue I have always wanted to play but haven't had the privilege until now."

The Myriad released its first full-length record ("You Can’t Trust a Ladder") in June 2005. The band has been recording new songs for its second album in Germany and London.
