REDDING, Calif. - Dr. William Resinger, a member of the Simpson University Board of Trustees, and resident of Palmer, Alaska, was appointed by Gov. Sarah Palin to the Alaska State Medical Board.
The Alaska State Medical Board is responsible for the licensing and discipline of physicians, physician's assistants, paramedics, and podiatrists.
Dr. Resinger, who has served on the Simpson University Board of Trustees since 1995, is a retired radiologist who graduated from Allegheny College in Meadville, Penn. and University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine with a master's in radiology. Resinger has lived in Alaska for 23 years.
"I remember watching the 2006 inauguration of Governor Palin and I had a distinct impression that sometime I might be called to serve on the board," said Dr. Resinger. "I didn't personally know the governor and I made no effort to apply for the position, but I did acknowledge that I would be willing to serve if asked."
After some time had passed, Dr. Resinger received a phone call from the governor's office indicating that his name had been mentioned to fill an open position on the State Medical Board.
"Without hesitation I indicated that I would be willing, but I admit it was an unusual experience," Dr. Resinger said.
Dr. Resinger has more than 20 years experience in the field of radiology and has been published in many medical journals across the country. He is an active member of the Radiological Society of North America and has been a member of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, the Society of Nuclear Medicine, and the American College of Radiology.
