Simpson University Women's Soccer Adds Three

REDDING - Simpson University Head Women's Soccer Coach Mark Starr has announced the signing of three more recruits for the 2006-07 season.

Starr has several more potential impact players in junior college transfer goalie Sarah Lillie and high school standouts Kaitlyn McLaughlin and Kathryn Stieglitz.

A star for Stockdale High School in Bakersfield, McLaughlin anchored the defense for the three-time league champion Mustangs. "Kaitlyn's versatility by playing striker for her club team and defender for her high school team will maker her an excellent addition to our team," adds Starr. "Kaitlyn will definitely make the players around her better."

Joining McLaughlin and the new-look Red Hawks is Saddleback College transfer Sarah Lillie. A two-year standout at Saddleback, Lillie was named Team MVP in her sophomore season.

"We will be a very young team for the next two seasons, so Sarah's experience from Saddleback Junior College will be a tremendous asset to us," says Starr.

A three-sport star from Cascade Christian High School in Medford, Oregon, Stieglitz will also look to make an immediate impact at the goalkeeper position. Besides being a two-time All Southern Cascade League performer in soccer, Stieglitz also played three years of varsity basketball and two years of softball.

"Katy's quick reactions and aggressive one-versus-one play will definitely strengthen up our goalkeeper position," says Starr of his latest signing, which brings his 2006 class to five.

The Lady Red Hawks begin pre-season camp in mid-August and start their season August 26th versus Cascade College.
