Simpson University brings psychology program to Siskiyou County

WEED, Calif. ' Starting this fall, Simpson University will offer a new bachelor of arts in psychology degree through its ASPIRE program at the College of the Siskiyous campus.

The 16-month program will meet approximately every other Saturday in Weed. ASPIRE is an accelerated degree-completion program designed for working adults. Since September 2004, Simpson has offered degree-completion options at College of the Siskiyous, in addition to multiple degrees offered on the university's main Redding campus.

Simpson also congratulates the following eight Siskiyou County residents who graduated April 29, 2006, with bachelor's degrees through ASPIRE's Siskiyou County program: Weed residents Kristi Apodaca, Mae Vaughan Chilson, Marcie Davidson, and Marie Moe; Mount Shasta residents Erik Burns and Kari Hunter; and Yreka residents George Jennings and Kathleen Tyler Moody. These students joined 48 other north state ASPIRE graduates who completed their academic credits for a four-year bachelor's degree through evening and weekend classes.

People who meet admissions requirements, including previous college transfer hours, may complete their B.A. degree through Simpson's ASPIRE program in approximately 16 months. On Simpson's campus in northeast Redding, ASPIRE offers degrees in Business and Human Resources Management, Psychology, Liberal Studies, Organizational Leadership and Christian Ministry Leadership. In Siskiyou County, ASPIRE offers degrees in Psychology and Organizational Leadership.
