REDDING, Calif. - Calli Coleman, a 2000 graduate of Trinity High School, earned her B.A. in Business and Human Resource Management from Simpson University.
Coleman was among over 100 student graduates during Simpson University's winter commencement held Saturday, Jan. 20. She was one of 64 students who graduated from ASPIRE, Simpson's degree-completion program which allows working adults to finish their degree in 16 months.
Among the crowd of hundreds, Coleman's family and two young sons watched her as she received her diploma.
Coleman recalls putting her two sons, Aidan and Ethan, to bed each night and staying up late to finish her homework.
"They were my greatest motivation for me to earn my degree," Coleman says.
Simpson's ASPIRE program has a flexible schedule which allowed Coleman to hold a full-time job in Weaverville working as a secretary for Jeanne Hodge CPA and Hodge Management, where she is apprenticing to become a CPA.
After high school, Coleman joined the Air Force and served for 3 ½ years. When she returned she knew she wanted to earn her degree.
When asked how she felt about graduating, Coleman replied, "I'm relieved. It's been a lot of work, and it's paid off."
