TPA
Teacher Performance Assessments, also known as TPAs or Tasks, are required by the State of California in order to fulfill requirements for a California Teaching Credential. Task 1 (TPA 1) is subject-specific for single-subject candidates. Task 1 (TPA 1) has four scenarios. Each scenario is completed during coursework, and graded by individual professors. The other tasks relate directly to what the candidate is teaching during his/her student teaching experience. They are completed by candidates during student teaching and later scored by professors, supervisors, and teachers in the field. Each TPA is scored by at least two different scorers. Scoring occurs twice a year; once in December and once in June. The candidate must score a level 3 or 4 in order to pass. The candidate must pass all four tasks in order to apply for a California Teaching Credential.
