General Sports News - (10/6/2006)

In their second meet of the year, the Simpson University cross country team got their first look at many of the California Pacific Conference runners at the Cal Pac Previews Friday in Rocklin.

Amber Dever (Fr., Redding) made the most of the experience gained from the Willamette Invite last weekend and ran herself into ninth place.  Her time of 22:25.35 was the first-ever top 10 finish for the Red Hawks and just over two minutes off the winning pace.

Lynette Garringer (Fr., Susanville) was just thirty second behind Dever at 23:03.30, good for 12th place in the 5K course.

In the men's race, Kyle Stephens (Fr., Victorville) finished in 16th place with a time of 32:30.65.  Oregon natives Ben Gurczynski (20th, 33:30.65) and Aaron Swank (28th, 37:03.82) finished out Simpson's competitors.

The Red Hawks next run at the Eikeden Relays in Rocklin on October 21st.
