Men's Soccer Finishes Season With Win

Knock off host Pacific Union 2-1

    The Simpson University men's soccer team capped off their 2006 season by defeated the host Pacific Union College Pioneers 2-1 in Angwin.

    Again it was the sophomores that found the back of the net for Simpson as Gary Weaver (F, Stockton) knocked home his 15th of the year in the 59th minute to give the Red Hawks a 1-0 lead. 

     Pacific Union answered just three minutes later as Blessed Gwelon tied up the match with a chip over goalie Dan Anderson (Jr., Cameron Park), who made three saves on the day.

     It didn't take long for Simpson to respond as Erly Cornejo (So., Riverton, WY) put the Red Hawks on top for good in the 65th minute.

     Simpson ends the season 10-7 and 4-3 in the California Pacific Conference.
