Heartbreaking Loss
Women's Soccer - Redding, CA (9/19/2007)
Southern Oregon’s Auika Murgain late goal gives the Lady Red Hawks another tough loss this season. The Lady Red Hawks soccer team has played extremely well this entire season so far and it was very noticeable in the game last night against Southern Oregon University. Throughout the entire game Simpson was in control with their physical play and speed, making Southern Oregon uncomfortable and passive. The Lady Red Hawks had 12 shots on goal compared to Southern Oregon’s 9. Karissa Hansen and Jordan England both had great opportunities to score but the Raiders defense prevented that from happening. It wasn’t until the 82 minutes into the game that Southern Oregon was able to get past the tough wall of the Simpson defense and score the only goal of the game.
Ashley Piche’ and Jordan England led the Lady Red Hawks with 4 shots. Ashley Piche’ also led the team with three shots on goal. Senior captain Sarah Lillie contributed with 10 saves in 90 minutes.
The Lady Red Hawks will look to rebound next week Wednesday, September 26, against conference opponent Cal State East Bay. The game will be played in Hayward at 4:00pm.
