Vanguard Win West Region

Simpson will compete for NCCAA title

For the ninth time in nine years, the women's volleyball team will represent the West Region at the NCCAA National Championships November 6-8.  The Vanguards swept the tournament winning 5 matches in two days, while never losing a game.

Senior Amy Sipes was named the MVP of the West Region, while teammate Sarah Taylor was named to the 1st team All-Region.  Making the 2nd team was junior setter Darlene Bower.  Sipes and Taylor were also on the first team all tournament squad for their play in leading the Vanguards to 5 straight victories.

The Vanguards defeated Southwestern College (30-16,30-28,30-23) and Multnomah Bible (30-21,30-14,30-15) on Friday.  Saturday would see Simpson win three matches defeating Pacific Life twice (30-24,30-26,30-19 and 30-12,30-25,30-18) and Southwestern (30-18,30-20,30-20) in the championship match. 

The NCCAA National Championships will be played at Lincoln Christian in Lincoln, Illinois on November 6-8.
