Hawks Drop Vanguard

Seniors Sipes and Klemenok play final home game

- Redding, CA (10/27/2003)

Playing their last home game of the 2003 season, the Vanguards hosted the number one ranked team in the Cal-Pac and despite playing tough, fell in three straight to Holy Names.

Amy Sipes and Brandi Klemenok were acknowledged before the game as seniors playing in their final home game.  Both players transferred to Simpson two years ago and have been instrumental in the team's success.  However on this night, the Holy Names Hawks would prove to be too much and defeated Simpson in  three, 30-15,30-22,30-15.

Sipes led the team with 8 kills to go along with 11 digs.  Klemenok had a team high 16 digs, while junior Sarah Taylor recorded 7 solo blocks.

The Vanguards will be on the road to face Dominican University on Friday and CSU Maritime on Saturday to wrap up California Pacific Conference play before heading off to Lincoln, Illinois to compete at the NCCAA Nationals.
