Simpson Wins 10th Straight Region Title
Trio of players receive honors

The women's volleyball team won six straight matches and stormed through the NCCAA DII West Regional for its 10th straight West Regional Championship.
The Vanguards failed to lose a single game in pool play defeating Multonomah 30-20, 30-22, 30-18, Life Pacific 30-15, 30-10, 30-8, Southwestern 32-30, 30-26, 30-26, and Puget Sound 30-17, 30-12, 30-22.
After dispatching Puget Sound again in the semifinals (30-12, 30-5, 30-22), Simpson was pitted against host Multonomah in the championship game.
The Vanguards rushed to a quick two game lead and held a six-point lead in the third game. The home crowd brought Multonomah back into the match and they rallied to even the match at two games a piece.
Simpson had too much firepower in the end and won a five-game championship thriller 30-21, 30-26, 28-30, 30-32, 15-12.
The Vanguards not only won their 10th straight title, but also picked up some individual hardware.
Sarah Taylor (Sr., Redding) was named Co-MVP of the West Region and MVP of the Regional Tournament.
Joanna Larson (So., Anderson) was named to the All-Region and All-Tournament Team and Jamie Heupel (Sr., Manteca) was recognized as All-Region Honorable Mention.
Simpson finishes up its Cal Pac schedule with home games this Thursday, Friday and Saturday before heading off to the NCCAA DII National Championships in Lincoln, Ill. November 11-13.
