Simpson In Midst of Tough Road Trip

The women's volleyball team started out its seven straight road matches with a pair of losses to two of the top teams in the California Pacific Conference.

On Friday, the Vanguards fell 9-30, 11-30, 11-30 at Notre Dame de Namur (10-1 in Cal Pac).  Sheri Spangler (Fr., Auburn) picked up eight digs.

Saturday, Simpson was knocked off by Dominican University (8-2 Cal Pac) with scores of 29-31, 13-30, 20-30.  Joanna Larson (So., Anderson) had 10 kills.  Sarah Taylor (Sr., Redding) tallied seven kills and 14 digs.

Jamie Heupel (Sr., Manteca) added eight digs and 15 assists for Simpson.

The Vanguards travel to Pacific Union on Tuesday, before heading to Washington to play Walla Walla on Thursday.  Friday and Saturday Simpson is at the NCCAA DII West Regional in Portland before returning home for their final three Cal Pac matches.
