Coach Callaway announces first of 2005 crop

Men's Basketball Head Coach Bill Callaway and the athletic department have announced the first two to sign on to play for the Red Hawks in the 2005-06 season.

Brandon Watts, a 6'5" foward from Victory Christian in Carmichael was the first to commit.  In addition to being part of the National Honor Society, Watts has received recognition as an All-American Christian Athlete, All-League and Coaches awards.

"He comes with a great deal of potential," says Callaway of Watts, a two-year varsity player under Coach Bob Grexton.  "He will bring much needed size and depth to the front line."

Also committing to Simpson, is Casey Van Dyk of Salem Academy in Oregon.  Van Dyk has been names All Tri-River League and received the Crusader Award for leadership at Salem Academy.

"A solid fundamental ball player," comments Callaway on the 6'3" Van Dyk, whose Salem Academy team was a state-runner up in Oregon.
