Simpson University women's basketball coach Talara Burns and the athletic department announced the signing of two future Lady Red Hawks early this week.

A local star, Deidra King, will compete for playing time as a guard and Liz Arnold of Washington state will add more experience to the post for the Red Hawks.

A three-year varsity player under coach Lorinda Hughes at Redding Christian, King was a three-time selection as All North Valley League.

"Deidra has amazing court awareness and strong fundamentals," remarks Burns of her newest guard.  "She has already established a chemistry with the team."

Joining King and the Lady Red Hawks is Liz Arnold of Ellensburg High School.  The low post player led her team to the 3A State playoffs before they fell in the quarterfinals to state runner-up Clover Park.

Coach Burns adds "Liz will help provide depth to Simpson's inside game.   She should have a tremendous immediate impact."
