Head Coach Talara Burns and the Simpson University Athletic Department have announced the signing of two student-athletes for the 2005-2006 season.
Sara Fairburn of Northwest Christian in Spokane, Washington has officially signed a letter of intent to play for the Lady Red Hawks in the fall.
"I am extremely excited that Sara has decided to come to Simpson," says Burns of Fairburn, who averaged 13 points and 8 rebounds a game in her senior season. "She will bring the height and true post game that we have been lacking on our team." Fairburn was named team MVP and all-league.
Also joining Simpson for the 2005-2006 season is Lassen High School graduate Katie Garringer. The 5'8" guard was part of a Lassen team that lost to Enterprise High School (Redding) in the CIF Northern Section semifinals.
"We are happy that Katie has chosen to stay local. Her versatility will help bring depth to our team," comments Burns on Garringer, who was third on her Grizzlies team in 3-pointers and assists.
