Basketball Squads End Semester on Sour Note
Both teams lose at Bethany and Menlo

A day after falling in a tight 71-61 contest at Bethany, the men's basketball team lost its third straight 89-67 at Menlo College. Sophomore Calvin Johnson (G, Oakland) led the way with 13 points and four rebounds for the Red Hawks. Johnson was perfect from long distance, hitting 4-of-4 shots from 3-point range.
Jakob Blackwell (Sr., Roseville) added 11 points and dished out three assists, while Richard Mitchell (Jr., Richmond) chipped in 10 points for Simpson (5-10, 1-3 Cal Pac). Blackwell also had 11 points the night before at Bethany as Mel Sattler (Sr., Fair Oaks) led the Red Hawks with 13 point off 6-of-12 shooting.
On the ladies side, the Lady Red Hawks struggled offensively all weekend as they lost big to both Bethany and Menlo. On Saturday at Menlo, Nicole Hall (Sr., Jackson) hit three 3-pointers and totaled 14 points, while Sara Fairburn (Fr., Spokane, WA) had nine points and seven rebounds in the loss.
Katie Garringer (Fr., Susanville) led the Lady Red Hawks with eight points in the loss to Bethany.
Both teams are off for the holidays, returning for a non-conferencee matchup against Northwest Christian on Wednesday January 4th. The games will be played at Shasta College, as the Heritage Student Life Center floor gets a paint job and re-surfaced.
