Jason Koopmans Hat-Trick Lifts Red Hawks

Simpson routs Bethany 5-0

- (10/1/2005)

It wasn't quite as dramatic as the Lady Red Hawks overtime thriller right before it, but it was just as pleasing to Coach Lee McKenzie and the Simpson men's soccer team as they dominated in a 5-0 victory over Bethany University.

Simpson got on the board just ten minutes in as Carlos Sanchez(Fr., Quito, Ecuador) kncoked home a pass from brother Daniel Sanchez(Fr., Quito, Ecuador).

Fifteen minutes later, Jason Koopmans(Jr., Santa Cruz) took over the game scoring the first of his three goals.  After the Red Hawks took the 2-0 lead into halftime, Koopmans netted two second-half goals and Jared Dahm (Fr., Spokane, WA) added his first of the season as Simpson won big.

Carlos Sanchez ended with a goal and a pair of assists, while keeper Mike Teague(Fr., Huntington Beach) ended the match with six saves.

Simpson is back in action on Wednesday when they host Pacific Union College at 4 p.m.
