- (10/15/2005)

The men's soccer team won their third straight match and netted a 5-0 win for the second time in three games as they knocked off visiting CSU Maritime Saturday afternoon.

Simpson dominated from the very start as they poured on 40 shots to Maritime's five.  The Red Hawks got on the board halfway through the first half as Carlos Sanchez(Fr., Quito, Ecuador) pounded home a rebound.  Shortly after the opening goal, Gary Weaver (Fr., Stockton) blasted home his first of the match off a pass through the box from Mike Floth (Jr., Placerville).

The second half proved to be much of the same as Weaver put home a superb touch past the defense from Joel Slagle (Jr., Palo Cedro).

The Red Hawks finished the game off with a pair of goals as they finished beautiful crosses from the wings.  Isaac Stahly knocked home the first from Sam Koopmans(Sr., Auburn) before Koopmans got one of his one off the foot of Sanchez.

Freshman Jordan Stratton(Chaska, MN) made his first appearance of the year in goal and made five saves to preserve Simpson's fifth shutout of the season.
