William Jessup Wins November Classic
Fairburn gets All Tournament nod

The Simpson University women's basketball team went 1-2 as William Jessup took the title at the Simpson November Classic Tournament held November 2-4th.
William Jessup 89, Simpson 85 (3OT)
The William Jessup Warriors used a 39-point night from Tracy Malone to edge past host Simpson University in a triple-overtime thriller. In a back-and-forth contest, Malone hit a game-high five 3-pointers and had 15 field goals overall to lead the Warriors. Shawnesy Patton and Lawanda Gordon both picked up 11 points, while Kia Shaw hit for 10 as the Warriors finally put the game away with a 12-point third overtime period.
Simpson had the answer early and often as Sara Fairburn (So., Spokane, WA) controlled the paint scoring 32 points on 12-of-26 shooting. Fairburn also grabbed six offensive rebounds and had 15 total rebounds on the night for a huge double-double. LaToya Scott (So., Lower Lake) was the outside answer for Simpson as she hit four 3-pointers and totaled 24 points. Katie Garringer (So., Susanville) got hot late and ended with 16 points for Simpson. It was in the third overtime that Simpson ran out of gas hitting just 2-of-7 shots and turned the ball over twice.
Northwest Christian 60, Simpson 54
Northwest Christian looked sharp early and held off several Simpson runs as they knocked off the host 60-54 in the nightcap. It was all Emily Gray for the Beacons as she hit 10-of-16 shots and scored a game-high 22 points in the win. She also grabbed eight rebounds, narrowly missing a double-double.
For the second straight night Simpson looked dangerous, especially from downtown as they hit eight 3-pointers and shot 89% from long-range. It was 25 turnovers that proved to be the end for Simpson on this night. Kelsey Lang (Jr., Red Bluff) was 5-of-5 on 3-pointers and scored a team-high 19 points in the loss. LaToya Scott and Sara Fairburn hit for 11 points each, while Katie Garringer grabbed 10 rebounds.
Simpson 61, Walla Walla 46
Walla Walla came out with their strongest game of the tournament, but four Red Hawks in double-digits was enough to sink the Wolves. Sophomore shooting guard LaToya Scott led all scorers with 16 points, while Katie Garringer picked up a double-double, scoring 13 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Kelsey Lang managed to pick up 12 points, despite a poor shooting night, and Sara Fairburn scored 10 in just 13 minutes of playing time for Simpson, who picked up their first win of the season.
Ashley Anderson led Walla Walla with 12 points, while All Tournament selection Melissa Bradford had six points and five rebounds.
