The Simpson University women's basketball team split of pair of games in Washington as they took second place in the Walla Walla College Tournament over the weekend.

In a 77-40 win over the host Wolves, Kelsey Lang (Jr., Red Bluff) hit 4-of-6 from 3-point territory and tallied a game-high 16 points, while Sara Fairburn (So., Spokane, WA) scored 15 in the win.

Latoya Scott (So., Lower Lake) and Nikki Hopkins (Fr., Yreka) had 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The Lady Red Hawks couldn't pull off a sweep of the tournament as they fell 50-83 to a very strong Northwest University (WA) team.  Hopkins led Simpson with 13 points, while Fairburn and Lang had 10 each.

Hopkins and Katie Garriner (So., Susanville) were both named to the All Tournament Team.  On the men's side, Markise Morrison (Jr., Vallejo) and Casey Van Dyk (So., Salem, OR) were selected to the All-Tournament Team despite Simpson losing both of their contests.

Morrison led the Red Hawks with 23 points against Walla Walla and another team-high 14 points in a loss to NAIA #13 Northwest University.  Van Dyk had eight points in each game.

The men's team will travel to the Oregon Tech Tournament this weekend, while the women are off until the Simpson Thanksgiving Classic November 24-25th.
