Bagshaw named NCCAA All American

In their first-ever trip to the NCCAA DI National Championships, the Lady Red Hawks came home tied for ninth in the country.
Although they failed to advance out of their pool, the Lady Red Hawks gained valuable experience at the national level that could propel them back next year with a squad that will return all but one player.
In their first match against #3 seeded and eventual runner-up Palm Beach Atlantic, Stacy Viss (So., Modesto) led three Red Hawks in double-digits with 13 kills as Simpson fell 21-30, 30-28, 18-30, 27-30. Carly Bagshaw (Sr., Red Bluff) and Leah Reginato (So., Palo Cedro) had 11 kills each.
Simpson grabbed an early lead against host school Northwestern University, but eventually fell 30-24, 25-30, 23-30, 21-30 despite 16 kills from Brittany Baldwin (Jr., Palo Cedro).
In day two of pool play, Baldwin again pounded out 16 kills, but the Red Hawks could not fend off #2 seed Mt. Vernon Nazarene as the dropped a 30-32, 29-31, 22-30 match.
Simpson finished by nearly coming from behind in a 21-30, 24-30, 30-26, 30-16, 10-15 marathon match against Trinity International. Baldwin again led the Red Hawks with 20 kills, while Reginato posted 16 and Bagshaw had 15.
The only senior on this year's squad Carly Bagshaw was rewarded for her outstanding season as she was named to the NCCAA DI 2nd Team All American Team as part of the awards ceremony on Saturday.
