Jamerson Leads Simpson To Conference Win

Red Hawks 1-1 in Cal Pac

- (12/9/2006)

Junior forward Erick Jamerson (Seaside) scored 25 points to lead the Simpson University men's basketball team to a 89-82 win over host Bethany University Saturday night.   At 6'4", Jamerson hit an incredible 12-of-16 from the floor and grabbed five rebounds for the Red Hawks.

Bethany took the early lead and led 39-36 at halftime before Simpson hit a sizzling 73% from the field in the second half to charge past the Bruins.  Bethany hoped its size and strength would be enough as John Bell and Earnest Williams II combined for 59 points and 25 rebounds.

It looked as if it might be as Bethany out rebounded the Red Hawks 45-29 on the night, but the speed and athleticism of Simpson came through as they forced 21 Bruins turnovers and hit 50% from long range in the win.

Juniors Markise Morrison (G, Vallejo) and Daniel Eoff (G, Seaside) combined to hit five 3-pointers and scored 15 and 14 points, respectively.  Sophomore forward Tramaine Ellison (San Jose) hit 5-of-6 shots for ten points.

Simpson moved to 1-1 in the California Pacific Conference with the win and travels to a tough Menlo College squad on Friday.
