Liberal Studies Major
Outcomes
The Liberal Studies degree will provide students who wish to teach with the necessary education to accomplish their goal as well as to allow students who want a basic college education the course of study they need for a degree. This degree will also work well for students who are unsure of their future career plans as it allows a broad range of options for future studies and vocations. Students graduating from the Liberal Studies program do so with a firm grasp on the word of God as well as an overview of all major areas of modern study.
Overview
The Liberal Studies major serves two purposes. It is a pre-credential major designed for students who desire a teaching career in Elementary Education. The broad curriculum base readies students to successfully complete the California Subject Examination for Teachers (CSET) as required by the state of California. The major also serves to equip students who have no plans to teach with a well-rounded knowledge of major fields of learning and provides a foundation for graduate studies. Focuses in the Liberal Studies program include the arts, sciences, religion, anthropology, language and grammar, mathematics, literature, economics and politics.
