• Work with your son/daughter to ensure that all documents are completed in an timely manner
• Fill out all forms completely and accurately
• Keep copies of everything
• Respond quickly to all requests for additional information

Apply for Financial Aid! As a parent, you can encourage your son/daughter to fill out the Simpson University Financial Aid Application. If you are a parent of a dependant student, you can help with filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid - FAFSA. You can file by paper application or on-line at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/. If you file on-line, please remember to request a PIN. A PIN serves as your electronic signature and is required before the information provided on the FAFSA is processed.

Policies and Procedures Manual - This manual serves to communicate Terms of Financial Aid, Student Account Policies, Loan Information, and provides Cost Estimate Worksheets.

Plus Loan - If you are the Parent of a dependent student, you have the opportunity to help with your student's cost of college by taking out the Parent PLUS Loan. You can borrow any amount up to but not exceeding the amount on the Award Letter.

Important facts to remember: (1) Only one parent should request the loan and, (2) by requesting a PLUS loan, that parent is not obligate to take out the loan. (3) It is necessary to request the loan even if you believe you may be denied, as the student may become eligible for an additional Unsubsidized Stafford Loan through a denial.

• Review the Award Letter and compare it to the Cost Estimate Worksheet, analyze the annual amount you will need to request (deducting the 3% Origination Fees).
• Review the Lender List to determine the Lender you would like to work with.
• Go to the on-line Lender List to request a PLUS Loan Be sure to request the annual amount desired.
• The Parent PLUS Loan request is a three (3) step process; (1) the required confirmation form, (2) the required pre-approval credit check, and (3) E-signing the Master Promissory Note. If you are a continuing parent borrower (at Simpson University), be sure you are the same borrower from the previous year as continuing borrowers only need to complete the confirmation form and the pre-approval credit check.
