Counseling Center
The Simpson Community Counseling Center is designed to complement the university's Sudent Development mission statement by providing support and encouragement to students as they discover who they are in Christ through a nurturing and dynamic community that cultivates their holistic development. The Simpson Community Counseling Center offers short-term therapeutic counseling and assessments in a caring, Christian environment. Services are available to all currently enrolled fulltime Simpson University undergraduate students.
There are many issues that university students are, or will be, confronted with in time. Some of the issues that often arise are:
- Adjustment to the demands of college life
- New and old relationships
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Childhood or family issues (i.e., abuse, trauma, or "dysfunction")
- Disordered eating patterns and/or distorted body image
- Important life-changing decision/event
- Sexuality
- Substance use/abuse
- Other psychological, emotional, or spiritual struggles
Additional Services may include:
- Crisis intervention
- Group counseling
- Referral to community resources for other services including medication evaluations
- Consultation to faculty/staff as appropriate
- Seminars, presentations, and/or educational resources on mental health, relationship, and wellness issues
- Disciplinary assessments as requested
