This is a resource tool that is available to all Simpson University students free of charge.  It provides several personal assessments covering areas such as your interests, values, skills, personality, educational goals, and leisure activities. Resume and Cover Letter Assistance.

Do you need some direction in writing a resume or cover letter?  Make an appointment with Career Services to have your resume and cover letter reviewed, or if you have not yet created them, visit http://simpson.optimalresume.com/ to begin the process.  You will need to use your Simpson University email address to login to this resource.  OptimalResume will take you through the process of writing a resume step by step and will give you expert advice along the way.

Graduate Schools

Thinking about a graduate degree? Do you know where and when to apply? How to write a letter of intent? Or where to you go to take your GRE? If you need some assistance answering these questions, make an appointment with Career Services soon. Remember, most graduate schools have strict deadlines.

Mock Interviews

Do interviews make you nervous? Schedule an appointment for a videotaped mock interview. Bring in a blank video tape and a job description of the position for which you are interviewing. Being prepared builds confidence and that can make the difference between failure and success in interviews.

Interest Inventories

If you are unsure of what might be a good fit for you, there are several inventories and tools available to help. Call for an appointment.

Encouragement

Sometimes we all need someone to cheer us on and remind us that God's timing is perfect! If you are discouraged while waiting for Him to prepare just the right place for you to make your contribution, don't be afraid to come in for some prayer and support.

Specialized Programs and Internships

Career Services can be a great resource for looking into special programs and internships. There are several programs, such as those found in AmeriCorps* and VISTA, that can offer training, education stipends, experience and more. These programs often contact Career Services looking for quality recruits and referrals.

Developing a Strategy

It is always wise to seek counsel. Proverbs 11:4 says, "Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in a multitude of counselors there is safety." Make an appointment and come learn how to plan effectively, evaluate honestly and go forward with confidence. God wants you to use all your gifts, talents, experience and abilities! He wants you to enjoy your labor!
