College of the Sequoias Student Signs with Simpson University Red Hawks

REDDING, Calif. - Visalia resident Christina Wade recently signed a letter of intent with the Simpson University Red Hawks to play for the women's soccer team during the 2007-2008 school year.

Wade attends College of the Sequoias, where she plays starting center mid-fielder for the Giants. She is the second leading scorer for the women's team.

Mark Starr, Simpson University women's head soccer coach, said he is pleased that Wade will join the Red Hawks.

"As a leading goal scorer for the College of the Sequoias, Christina will fill a much-needed role on our team by scoring goals for us," said Starr. "Her two years of experience at the junior college level will be relied upon to help lead a very young, but talented Simpson team."

Wade said she heard many positive things about Simpson which played a significant role in her signing with the university. She said she is excited to join a university that shares her values and mission. Wade plans to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in liberal studies.

Wade will join the Red Hawks on an athletic scholarship from Simpson University.
