Description:

This position provides leadership for and is responsible for student academic records, registration and enrollment processes, reporting of academic and enrollment information, maintaining and enforcing academic policy and procedures related to academic courses, degree programs, and student records. Serves as the FERPA officer for the University. As Registrar, serve as a non-teaching, administrative faculty member.  This position also provides leadership for the student support center in the area of student retention. Supervises the staff in the Registrar’s office and the Student Support Center. Reports to the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Qualifications:

  1. Master’s degree required; terminal degree preferred
  2. Experience with student information systems, including databases, and student records

Responsibilities:

As Director of Records/Registrar:

  1. Develops appropriate goals/plans and supervises the work of both student academic records and student support activities, including the retention of currently enrolled and new and transfer students.
  2. Maintain the systems student database and degree audit system
  3. Directs student registrations and maintains accurate academic records
  4. Directs reporting functions regarding student enrollment, student eligibility for various accrediting and governmental agencies, the University, the sponsoring denomination, and others needing such information
  5. Serve as the FERPA officer for the institution
  6. Supervises the development of the course schedule for each term, maintains the records of all course offerings
  7. Supervises the accurate evaluation of transcripts, student records, graduation requirements and other tasks relating to academic records
  8. Works with the academic office to prepare for each commencement
  9. Provides institutional data on enrollment and retention trends
  10. Directs research and studies on institution itself, including data collection, analysis, and reporting (i.e. IPEDS reporting)
  11. Ensures appropriate advising and other needs related student registration
  12. Monitor University compliance issues related to academic data
  13. Prepare policies and develop procedures for enrollment in and maintaining records for new programs, majors, etc.
  14. Serve as liaison between faculty and staff of the Registrar’s office
  15. Serve as liaison between the Registrar’s office and other areas of the University
  16. Hire, train, and evaluate all staff in the Registrar’s office
  17. Develop and manage budget for both the Registrar’s office and the Student Support Center and implement appropriate budgetary controls, as needed
  18. Serve as registrar representative to institutional committees and external groups as assigned
  19. Under the direction of the Provost, assist with the implementation of new academic initiatives and accompanying policy and procedural issues

As Director of Student Support Center:

  1. Research, planning, and implementation of a student retention plan
  2. Provide support for student needs and issues
  3. Prepares and participates in the academic orientations of new students
  4. Ensures appropriate support counseling and other needs related issues to students
  5. Administer and interpret surveys, tests, and other data collection devices and make recommendations regarding policies and procedures as related to student academic satisfaction, success and degree completion.
  6. Serve as liaison between faculty and staff and counselors of the Center
  7. Serve as liaison between the Center and other areas of the University
  8. Hire, train and evaluate staff in the Center
  9. Assume responsibility for developing and implementing research activities beyond current data collection to enable the University to better retain students
